Born in November 1974, Zhang Jiaheng is a PhD, postdoctoral, professor, doctoral tutor, and the winner of the 2013 Young Teacher Achievement Award in Gansu Province.

In June 1997, Zhang graduated from Gansu Agricultural University, majoring in farmland water conservancy engineering, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. In June 2000, he graduated from Gansu Agricultural University majoring in crop cultivation and farming, with a master’s degree in agronomy. In July of the same year, he stayed as a teacher in the Department of Water Conservancy of Gansu Agricultural University; graduated from Lanzhou University with a doctorate in ecology in June. He graduated from Lanzhou University majoring in ecology in June 2005 with a doctorate of science. In April 2009, he became a post-doctorate in geography from the Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

He is currently a senior member of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, a member of the Chinese Water Conservancy Society, an expert in the industrialization of Chinese agriculture, an AEIC expert, member of editor boards of National Chinese Core Journals, China Science and Technology Core Journals, China Agriculture Core Journals, and CSCD included journals. He serves as the reviewer of Crop Science, Journal of Integrative Agriculture (formerly Agricultural Sciences in China), Environmental Earth Science, Agricultural Science Research Journal, African Journal of Agricultural Research, Journal of Agricultural Engineering, Journal of Agricultural Machinery and Arid Land Geography.

From February to April 2004, he participated in the overseas training and study of the Sino-Italian cooperation project "Planning and Managing the Water Resource" in Italy (Rome). From November to December 2006, he participated in the "Agriculture and Managing the Water Resource" in the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture (Tel Aviv).

He Teaches "Soil Science and Agronomy" and "Professional English" for undergraduates majoring in agricultural water conservancy engineering, "Professional English" "Principles of Irrigation and Drainage and New Technologies" and "Planning Utilization and Management of Water Resources" for postgraduates majoring in agricultural water and soil engineering ", teaches courses such as "Frontiers of Water-saving Agricultural Engineering" for doctoral students majoring in crop production equipment engineering in northern arid areas.

He served as a doctoral tutor for crop production equipment engineering in northern arid regions, and a master tutor for agricultural water and soil engineering. Zhang mainly instructs graduate students in water-saving irrigation theory and technology, crop water-saving mechanism, efficient use of agricultural water and soil resources, and water demand (use) for vegetation ecology Research work on chemical and its mechanism. 19 full-time master students have been trained; 2 doctoral students and 10 master students are currently instructed. Participated (ranked 3rd) in the teaching and research project of "Water Conservancy Engineering Economics" Curriculum Reform and Development of Economic Evaluation and Analysis Software for Water Conservancy Engineering Projects" was selected as an excellent project in 2010, and the "Water Conservancy Engineering Economics" course was also awarded as a school-level excellent course. In addition, as the first author, he published 2 teaching research papers in the field of agricultural water and soil engineering. Currently he is in charge of the Gansu Provincial University Discipline Leader Support Program "Research on the Reform and Innovation of Graduate Training Mode for Agricultural Engineering Discipline Degree" and the key teaching research project of Gansu Agricultural University "Research on the Training Mode and Training Mechanism of Water Conservancy Engineering (Undergraduate) Professionals in Agricultural Colleges" ".

In recent years, he mainly uses wheat, corn, potatoes, peppers, and Radix Isatidis in oasis irrigation areas have been mainly used as research materials to develop oasis crop’s adaptation strategies to water deficit with the goal of increasing agronomic yield and efficient water use and the possible impact mechanism of such strategies. He has presided over (7 projects) and participated (9 projects) to complete 16 scientific research projects at all levels. One of her projects won the third prize of Gansu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2009. He presided over the completion of one National Natural Science Foundation of China and five provincial projects. Currently he is in charge of 4 projects, including “Desert Oasis Vegetation Ecological Water Demand Quantification and Mechanism Research", funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, "Research on the Life History Countermeasures and Yield Formation Mechanism of Potatoes under Film Drip Irrigation in Hexi Oasis", supported by basic scientific research expenses of colleges and universities in Gansu Province.

He has published over 100 academic papers on SCI- and EI-indexed journals and national core journals in China as the first author, journals such as Agricultural Water Management, Canadian Journal of Plant Science, Pedosphere, Advanced Material Research, Applied Mechanics and Materials, Journal of Agricultural Machinery, Journal of Ecology, Chinese Desert, Chinese Journal of Ecological Agriculture, Agricultural Research in Arid Areas, among which 4 are published on SCI-indexed journals, 18 are included in EI-indexed journals. In addition, he has published 1 academic monograph with 267,000 words, participated in the compilation of 1 monograph, and applied for 1 invention patent.
